Vermeil maple flower earrings with amethyst gemstones

Inspired from maple flowers I captured the beauty of nature's details with these delicate yet bold earrings. Hand carved in wax, the earrings are cast in metal using the ancient technique of lost wax casting and enhanced with a faceted amethyst gemstone.

vermeil silver gold plated with heavy microns 

Vermeil is a process of gold plating silver, giving a piece of jewelry the look of gold jewelry without the cost of pure gold. Vermeil involves the use of high quality pure or sterling silver with a carefully applied layer of gold over the top of it.  In the United States there are specific rules about what can be labeled as “vermeil”. It must be 2.5 microns thick. And the gold must be 10k or higher. I use 18K yellow gold.
